One street food that has populated every street in India is Momos, and I think you will agree with me. I see at lease 1 Momo stand on my way to home.

I love momos, and I have been having them way before they were too common, I mean I am talking about the late 90s. I have loved these little dumplings since then.

Ingredients

  • 1 finely chopped Capsicum
  • 2 cup chopped Cabbage
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped Carrots
  • 2 tbsp chopped Garlic
  • 1 tbsp chopped Ginger
  • 1 medium chopped Onion
  • 1/2 cup, crushed Paneer
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Vinegar
  • 2, chopped Green chili
  • 1.5 cup Al purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • to knead the flour Water

Instructions

  • Keep all the ingredients ready for filling.
  • Chop cabbage finely.
  • Transfer it into a mixing bowl.
  • Chop the carrots finely. Peel off the skin of onion and chop it finely.
  • Chop capsicum finely.
  • In a pan, add oil and saute with chopped ginger and garlic.
  • Add chopped onion and fry it till it is translucent.
  • Add capsicum and cook for another 1 minutes.
  • Add chopped cabbage and cook it on a medium stove for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add chopped carrots and cook for one more minutes.
  • Add salt, green chili, and pepper powder. Mix it well.
  • Add soya sauce and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add crushed paneer and vinegar. Mix it well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Switch off the stove. Now the filling is ready.
  • In a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, baking soda, and oil. Mix it well.
  • Add water and knead the flour well to make a dough.
  • The dough is ready, Cover and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • Take the lemon size ball from the dough, dust with flour and roll it into a circle of 3-4 inches in diameter. Apply water from all the sides of the circle.
  • Put 1 tbsp filling in the center of the circle.
  • Fold it in a way as shown below in the image. (You can refer video for shaping the momos)
  • The momos are done. Do the same with the rest of the dough. All the momos are prepared for steam.
  • Steam cook it for 4- 6 minutes,
  • The momos are ready to serve. Serve hot with red chili sauce.
  • If you want to eat fried momos, deep fry it on a medium flame till is golden and crisp.

But with their increase in availability has decreased its quality. I rarely find Momos that are delicious, In fact, I can count on my fingers the places where I can get tasty momos.

So, I’ve started making them myself at home since the last few years, and I am, in fact, pretty good at it.

I am sharing my recipe of Delicious Momos today. Check out the step by step instructions below to prepare the most delicious Momos you will have in a long time.

Keep all the ingredients ready for filling.
